WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Dementia is a rapidly growing epidemic that should be given more attention. Although deaths by other diseases such as heart diseases have decreased, deaths from Dementia have increased 123% between 2000 and 2015.
Dementia affects society locally, nationally, and globally. Currently, 5.7 million people of all ages have dementia in the United States and this number is projected to grow even more.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), worldwide there are currently estimated at 47 million people with dementia and this will increase to 75 million” by 2030; the number of cases is estimated to almost triple by 2050.
Volunteer
