VOLUNTEER

Help Those Suffering With Dementia

The simplest way is to share some of your precious time by visiting with memory care residents. It is very natural for any individual to feel isolated and lost when they are in the same unknown place and are challenged in remembering.

As a volunteer, when you visit anyone there and talk with them it turns out be the best act of kindness you can demonstrate. Having volunteered for many years, I have noticed the sparkle and twinkle in their eyes with the eagerness of the next visit. For those who go and meet the residents, it is truly a rare opportunity to impact someone's life and bring a smile to their face.

You can find many local memory care facilities in your community. To assist, I have complied an activities book which details many simple and fun activities any volunteer can use to engage with the resident. I have also compiled a list of songs the residents might enjoy, which I have played to the joy of residents. In many cases, they try to sing along too with joy!

Volunteer: Welcome
